Neckties are a very modern addition to the attire of men. They began, like so many modern inventions, as a product of war: Craotian soldiers came to France after defeating Turkey, and the French king liked the neck scarf and made it official. The English king, Charles II brought it to England, from where it spread to the rest of the world.
